Sharon Snyder has a Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Science from the State University of New York at Albany (with a minor in Business), and a Master’s degree in Computer Science from Polytechnic University (now a part of New York University). She has worked in a variety of industries and technologies over the years, but fell in love with speech and text processing while working at IBM. While at IBM she worked on a variety of products in the speech and text processing area (VoiceType for OS/2, MedSpeak product family, IBM Voice Server for NLU, and the IBM Embedded NLU products) as well as internet security. She has found a niche within the speech and text processing area, writing the tools needed for creating the data needed for the statistical models used in NLU. Since leaving IBM, she has worked in financial services, and 2 years ago came back to NLU technologies here at Nuance. She is thrilled to continue working in an area she is passionate about, as well as constantly challenging herself to find new and innovative ways to find better, faster, more efficient ways to provide the data needed for the statistical models.
