Sergey is a Senior Research Scientist in the NLU team working primarily on various projects around NLU using deep learning. Prior to joining the NLU team, Sergey worked on several projects around the core dialog technology more on the NLP side of things. He joined Nuance after finishing his PhD in the area of Computational Physics at the University of Waterloo, where he studied the interaction of particles with membranes using various numerical methods. Sergey enjoys anything related to numerical methods (deep learning, optimization problems, decomposition methods applied to principal component analysis and data noise reduction, molecular dynamics & Monte Carlo simulations, etc.) and their application to scientific computing. Outside work Sergey likes to swim, bike and run unreasonable distances and also has a passion for photography.
