Naushad UzZaman, PhD, completed his Bachelors in Computer Science from BRAC University, Bangladesh with Vice Chancellor's Gold Medal. Then he attended University of Rochester where he received his Masters and PhD degrees. Naushad's work primarily falls under Natural Language Processing/Understanding (NLP/NLU) and Big Data. For his PhD, he worked on problems related to temporal information processing (extraction, question answering, evaluation, etc.). He also worked on making information accessible. Before joining Nuance, Naushad had done multiple research internships in various domains on Big Data problems, such as, game prediction using social media (Yahoo! Research), medical NLP (Microsoft M3L), and car dialog systems & large scale data mining (Bosch RTC). Currently at Nuance Communications, Naushad is working in the NLU Core Architecture group and the Data Mining group of Mobility Division as a Senior Research Scientist.
