Gabe Webster is a manager in The NLU Application Research group. After receiving his M.Phil. in Computer Speech and Language Processing from Cambridge University in 1999 and his Ph.D. in Linguistics from the University of Washington in 2002, Gabe spent several years working on text-to-speech systems at Toshiba’s Cambridge Research Laboratory, focusing on pronunciation and prosody modeling. He then spent time as a product manager in HTC’s web services team in Taiwan before joining Nuance in 2012.
Gabe’s primary academic research interests are in computational psycholinguistics, especially grammar learning and sentence processing. When not working, Gabe enjoys spending time with his family, home improvement and gardening, and cycling.
