Mirko is a Natural Language Understanding Developer in the Nuance NLU research group. His research interest is focused both on machine learning methodologies and massive data extraction and analysis. Before his career at Nuance, Mirko addressed the problem of information extraction from semi-structured data (mainly HTML); in particular, his Ph.D. thesis deals with the problem of extracting and integrating data from data-intensive web sites (Amazon, IMDB, etc…); the proposed solution was based on redundancy analysis of the extracted information in a fully automatic fashion. Mirko also dealt with textual data extraction and validation during a collaboration with the University of Alberta, using redundancy analysis techniques in order to estimate correctness and accuracy of data.
