Luc Bélanger is a Natural Language Processing Research Scientist in the Natural Language Understanding research group. His research interest is in the area of Natural Language Processing, Information Retrieval, Question Answering and Software Engineering.
Before joining Nuance he worked for both start-ups and large companies, North Side, Convera, Hotgrinds and Dow Jones. His previous works include the development of ranking algorithms for web-scale search engine, software platform for multi-lingual debating communities (social network), event extraction from financial news and the development of the TimeML annotation language. He graduated with a B.Sc. and a M.Sc. in Mathematics from Université du Québec à Montreal, along with a Ph.D in Computer Science from Université de Montréal.
