Chao Wang is a Director of the Nuance NLU Applications Research team in Montreal, Cambridge/Burlington, Aachen, and Seattle. Her research interest is in the area of Natural Language and Dialogue. Chao joined Nuance through the Vlingo acquisition, where she led a small team of speech scientists in developing Voice Interfaces in nearly 20 languages for many platforms. Prior to Vlingo, Chao was a research scientist at MIT’s Spoken Language Systems Group, where she conducted research in Spoken Dialogue Systems, Machine Translation, and Computer Aided Language Learning Applications. Chao received her Bachelor’s degree in 1994 from Tsinghua University, Beijing, China. She received her Master’s degree in 1997, and Ph.D. in 2001, both from the Electrical Engineering and Computer Science Department at MIT.
