Benjamin is a Research Engineer in the Linguistic Technologies group. His research interest is in the area of Natural Language & AI.
He is primarily responsible for the software development needs of the Cognition team and has spent the last nineteen years collaborating with Dr. Kathleen Dahlgren and Karen Wallace in Natural Language Processing. During this time his accomplishments have included implementation of an MCFG parser, integration of NLP search technology with ASR and TTS interfaces, design and development of proprietary lexicography tools, and development of a first-order-logic translator. Benjamin has a bachelor’s degree in Anthropology and Computer Science from the University of California at Berkeley. He also has a Master of Fine Arts in Cinema-Television from the University of Southern California, where he made numerous short films.
